Magic Bullet Review
The Magic Bullet has been around for a few years now and I have been personally using this blender since 2014. I find it very easy to use and clean but not all things are perfect. For those of us looking for a small easy to use blender to make yummy protein shakes this will work just fine.
My mother got me one of these as a gift to make protein shakes and it did the job well! It came with a tall cup and a party mug that both held 18 ounces which were the perfect serving size for my protein shakes.
Using the Magic Bullet is pretty easy. For making protein shakes just pour some water or milk into the tall cup and add your favorite whey protein powder, press down on the Magic Bullet power base and locked it in place. After a few seconds, you will have a rich creamy protein shake to enjoy.
If you are like me and would like to add your favorite fruits into your shakes the Magic Bullet does a really good job at breaking down the fruit and giving it a kick of extra flavor.
I personally love adding bananas, blueberries, Kale, peanut butter and honey together into my shakes.
Here is a list of ingredients I used to make delicious protein shake:
- Red berries
- Coconut oil
- Peanut butter
- Flax seeds
- Chia seeds
- Almond milk
- Vanilla Ice Cream (cheat days)
Add water or milk and your favorite protein powder and enjoy!
There are a lot more ingredients you can use of course but this is usually what I stuck to when making my shakes.
It’s Not A Heavy Duty Blender
The first Magic Bullet I had lasted me for about a year and a half. I used it almost every day and found out it was not for heavy duty use.
If you are considering this blender for commercial use do not get it!
The Magic Bullet claims to be able to break down ice just fine but from my experience its O.K. at doing this but not the best. The blades would even get stuck sometimes. I would let it muscle its way through it and in doing so caused excessive wear and tear on it.
Using tough vegetables like carrots or broccoli to break down in the Magic Bullet may cause the blades to get stuck as well. If you do decide to use it for blending vegetables I would recommend cutting them down into small pieces so it breaks down easily.
Some other things that I noticed while using the Magic Bullet were that the blade would become loose and leak liquids into the base. This may have also been caused by using it excessively and breaking down the ice all the time but I was able to order new blades separately online without having to replace the whole unit.
If you’re thinking of getting one these for commercial use I would probably look for a blender that is more durable & powerful for excessive use.
Although my first Magic Bullet only lasted me for about 1 1/2 years, I did decide to get another one since it did do a good job at making protein shakes and smoothies. I just told myself I would take it easy on the ice. The second one I got I have had for about 3 years now and is working just fine.
Cleaning The Magic Bullet
The best part I found about the Magic Bullet is that its very easy to clean since everything detaches apart.
The blade screws right on and off the cups and can be washed very easily after use. The small, tall, and party mug cups are wide enough for an average person to get most of their hand in and wash the cups clean.
All of the Magic Bullet cups, blades, party mugs, and lip rings are top-rack dishwasher safe. Just do not use the sanitize or high-temperature setting. The only part of the Magic Bullet you can not put in the dishwasher is the power base itself.
The power base rarely needs cleaning. Now and then you may get some liquids on it but for the most part the cups and blades need to be washed more often than the power base. And unlike the big huge blenders, it does not take up the whole kitchen sink to clean. It takes me about 1-3 minutes to clean up the cups and blades before I get on with my day.
Other Uses For The Magic Bullet
Other than making smoothies or protein shakes with the magic bullet you can also use it to make the following:
- Pancake Batter
- Chicken Salad
- Grind Coffee Beans
- Chopped Onions
This morning I actually used it to make a veggie omelet! Check it out.
Even though I mainly use the Magic Bullet for protein shakes it does have its other uses as you can see from the list above. It chops, blends, whips, and grinds just about anything you can think of.
It’s very portable and makes it easy to travel with if you are on the go. It stands about 12 inches in height with the tall cup attached to it and has a diameter of 4 3/4 inches.
The cups are made out of high-impact plastic which does not shatter if dropped.
Although the Magic Bullet comes with only the cross blade which can be used for chopping, grating and blending food such as onions, meats, and frozen drinks. You can also order the flat blade that can be used for whipping cream and grinding hard foods likes coffee beans, spices, and ice.
The Magic Bullets tall cups are microwave safe! You can prepare and heat up food in the same cup without having to dirty a dish. All other pieces like the resealable lids, lip rings, flip top lid, blades, and party mugs should not be used in the microwave.
Why a 4.3 out of 5
The few reasons I didn’t give it a perfect 5 is because it can get worn out quickly if used too excessively. Like I mentioned earlier it is not very powerful and not for commercial use. In fact, if you use it for commercial or any institutional setting the one year warranty gets voided.
I gave the Magic Bullet a 4.3 out of 5 because its portable, easy to use, easy to clean, has various uses and for the money gives you a lot of bang for your buck! Especially if you just want to make protein shakes and smoothies which what I mainly use it for.
If your in the market for a blender that is portable, easy to use with little mess to make salsa, shakes, smoothies, or to chop and grind some veggies then this one may be perfect for you.
